Swindon IA

Swindon IA (UK charity no. 1038734) was formed in 1980 by an enthusiastic group of patients and our founding president, Dr Hellier, to support and help patients return to a full and active life following surgery.

Our Swindon group has approximately 130 members and we are very fortunate in having a superb small army of members and friends who actively support our work and our fundraising events.

We are also affiliated to the Midlands Ileostomy Association charity and our members receive the Midlands News Bulletin magazine three times a year in addition to four IA Journals plus our own local newsletters.

Swindon IA has donated thousands of pounds of equipment and services to our local hospital. Until recently, we funded the training of our specialist stoma care nurses based at the Great Western Hospital and our current project is to raise £28,000 for transanal operating equipment.

We are very proud of our links to our health professionals and try to respond in any way we can to help them... to help us.

Swindon IA holds three members meetings annually: a spring meeting, a summer meeting and in December, an AGM combined with a social. In addition, various fund raising events are organised throughout the year.
